Nia James Starr
I’m a multidisciplinary designer and emerging sustainability analyst located in New York City, NY. My work is focused on decarbonization and finding solutions for implementing regenerative approaches to energy, agriculture, land, and water use across urban landscapes.
Prior to focusing on climate change, my work in NYC has been defined by almost a decade of working as a designer and art director in nonprofits, the hospitality industry, and e-commerce start-ups.
I am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Sustainable Environmental Systems at Pratt Institute in the Graduate Center for Planning and the Environment. I study how policy, economics, and the environment intersect and affect development. As a climate steward, I am actively working towards designing a better world to mitigate human suffering from the effects of climate change.
